"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

for the instruction set reference you might want to try the book "The Art of Assembly", which is online available in pdf format at http://webster.cs.ucr.edu/

my favorite win32 debugger definitelly is softice, it is available at www.numega.com. another debugger i like is the turbo debugger, it comes with borland c++ and turbo assembler i think (www.borland.com).

you will probably also need a description of the portable executable file format. www.wotsit.org has some good texts about that.

 hth,
