Home Network is Lagging

I have a network going at home 3 pc's I use the win 2000 pc for a server for the net
sometime it lags very bad and get dropped off the irc and icq

has anyone got any ideas why it would do it

dose the modem disconn & reconn ?.

The most common cause of this kind of delay is DNS resolution.  What are you using for DNS servers?

What version is your Win 2000 ?

You may try the RC2 , it may resolves your problem.

Here how open dos prompt
<type> ipconfig /all <enter>
then copy it & post here both server & clinet

you've got a bad ISP.

If a disco/reconnect solves the problem then it is the ISP causing you problems (as long as the PC doesn't have to be rebooted to resolve the problem).

How long does the connection last before disconnect?  Are you sure it'sthe connection TO the isp that is lagging and not the connection FROM the isp to the world?  Try connecting to your ISP's homepage DURING the lag - if fast, this proves the slowdown is your ISP.  Are these during Peak times?  That's normal slowdown time.
