"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

That should work, but it may depend on the type of document you are doing (article, slide ...)

Another way could be to set the paper size and margins directly, like this:

\setlength{\textheight}{8.75in}
\setlength{\textwidth}{6.8in}

Here you put the size you need (letter landscape would be 11x8.5)

And you can change the margins if you wish too

\setlength{\topmargin}{0.25in}
\setlength{\headheight}{0.0in}
\setlength{\headsep}{0.0in}
\setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-.19in}
\setlength{\evensidemargin}{-.19in}
