I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Not sure if this is going to help but I don't think there's an /outlook command line switch. There's a /outnews and a /newsonly switch (possibly a /mailonly switch).

I believe I had this problem due to a corrupted message in my inbox.  I renamed the two inbox files from dbx to old and restarted Outlook.  This created a new inbox.dbx.  I then deleted the inbox.old files.  Unfortunately you loose the previous messages in your existing inbox but I usually archive ones that I wish to keep so it really didn't matter.
