secondary ide controller dual drv problem

how do you add  the driver  for  this  device.  it  says  it  needs  the driver  installed  and  the  driver  is  in  the  right  place  but  it  still  says  it  cant  find  it

Storm,

Boot the system into safemode by either holding the CTRL key down during a restart ot by tapping the F8 key right after the memory post but just before you see "Starting Windows..."

Now go into device manager and scroll down to the IDE controllers area. Highlight each device in there and click remove.

Now restart the system. As long as there's nothing wrong with the IDE bus, or you haven't disabled it in the Bios\CMOS setup, windows will reload it.

If it is an ALI chipset motherboard, you may have to go to www.ali.com.tw and download an IDE driver.  Windows 98 has a prob with some ALI chipsets.  Nothing on my mothrboards secondary IDE was recognized until I downloaded the driver.
