How do I enable sound (OSS) to autostart in RH 6.1?

I´m running oss for my Turtle beach Montego
soundcard,I´ve read that I should put in
usr/lib/oss/soundon command in the systems
rc file (/etc/rc.d/rc.local) to enable it at system startup, well fine, but as I´m kinda new to this,I hope someone can tell me exactly how I should type it in the rc.local file?I don´t wanna screw things up.

Hi Tony --

You got all the parts. I would suggest that you use "mc"
(Midnight Commander from the command line-not Xwindows)
to go to /etc/rc.d/rc.local. Hit "F4" to enter edit mode.
At the bottom of the file, type:

# This loads OSS soundcard driver
echo "Loading OSS soundcard driver..."
/usr/lib/oss/soundon

#
#

Then hit "F2" to save and "F10" to return to file list mode.

The above will load OSS at boot time and the echo will
inform you of such just before the login prompt.

You can test this by hitting "Enter" with rc.local highlighted in Midnight Commander, then "Ctrl+O" to get a shell. OSS should give you a reading that it is loading.

Hope this helps

Thanks,it kinda helped, did not work with
/usr/lib/oss/soundon though,I put in
/usr/local/bin/soundon instead and then it worked,
as you lead me the right way regarding the input,I give you the points.
