Unmapped Memory Problem

I have an 8500 and am using 8.1 OS.  I'm in the process of writing a screenplay using Final Draft version 5.  Every time I try to open the program, it crashes with an unmapped memory exception.  I used "Get Info," yet it only gave me how much space the file took up (11.3 mb).  My problem is that there was no box (which is usually in the bottom right corner of the Get Info box) where I could change or even see how much memory was allocated to this program.  Help!  I am on a deadline here and cannot open my file since the program keeps crashing.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Don't know Final Draft, how old it is etc, but the lack of the Memory allocation part of the Get Info box means (i think) it' s a 68k application, hence not allowing you to allocate memory. Are you running with virtual memory? Try turning that off. When did this program stop running? More details would be helpful...
Do a get info b4 u launch the app. U cannot change the size if it is open.

Download ->

Reboot with extensions off (shift key) and run the app. The Read Me file will tell u how 2 use the app and y it was created.

good luck,
