"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

To get networking going with Windows 95 go to
CONTROL PANEL, select NETWORKING, make sure the following
are loaded: IPX/SPX,  NETBUI, YOUR 3 COM NETWORK ADAPTER,
CLIENT FOR MICROSFT NETWORKS, and the click on FILE
and PRINTER SHARING and enable those.

make sure that the WORKGROUP NAME listed in WORKGROUP
has the same name as the WORKGROUP NAME on the other computers on the NETWORK.

The network connector does not get a light up when the machine powers on, the set up I know how to get going its just the light on the hub and connetor. Do you know if this type of card works with a compaq Armada 4110? the modon on the same card appears to be working. It loads all the drivers or appears to, but once completed in devices in control panel it has a yellow dot with and '!' in it, indicating that the device is not working correctly or does not have the drivers install, i have tried the update driver function here with out any luck.

yOU MUST FIRST SET UP PCMCIA CONTROLLER IN DEVICE MANGER FOR IT TO RECOGNIZE THE DRIVER.

SCROLL DOWN THROUGH DEVICE MANGER UNTIL YOU COME TO
PCMCIA, CLICK ON THE  + beside it, OPEN IT UP, HIGH LIGHT
IT, select PROPERTIES,  select UPDATE DRIVER, and when
Windows offers to do an AUTOMATIC SEARCH. SELECT NO,
AND DO A MANUAL SEARCH, AND select PCMCIA CONTROLLERS,
SLECT FINISH AND LET WINDOWS LOAD ITS' PCMCIA
CONTROLLER DRIVERS from the Windows CD-Rom Disk.

If the PCMCIA CONTROLLER is not listed under PCMCIA in DEVICE MANAGER look under OTHER or OTHER DEVICES, for
it.

BASICALLY WHAT IT COMES DOWN TO IS THAT YOU MUST HAVE
THE PCMCIA CONTROLLER SET UP CORRECTLY IN DEVICE MANGER BEFORE YOUR PCMCIA LAN DRIVER CAN BE LOADED.

In that case either your pcmcia sockets are bad completely or you only have one socket that will work with your card.

Plug your pcmcia card into the opposite socket than the one it
is now in(you have 2 sockets on this notebook), and do ALL
this over again.  If it does not then work, BOTH YOUR PCMCIA
SOCKETS WOULD APPEAR TO BE BAD.
