Corrupted Outlook .pst file?

I use Outlook 2000 to manage my contact database (approx. 600 entries with user defined fields). My computer (Pentium 100, 80Mb RAM, Win 98) crashes when I try to use the search tool in Outlook. I have reinstalled Office and the problem persists. I suspect the pst file is corrupted. How can I fix it?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Can you access the file but not search?
Can you export the address book?
Then import into a new pst or (my opinionated recommendation) a better program!

Sorry, by "address book" I mean "contacts folder"...

Here's the answer:

Run Regedit.

Go to:

My Computer\Hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\office\9.0\outlook\contact

There will be a folder there named QuickFindMRU

Click on that folder and delete it.

Restart outlook.

Problem Solved.

Cheers,

Bratley
