InstallShield setup programs stop work!

I've got a very strange problem in WinNT 4.0.

The any setup programs created using InstallShield stop work.
It look likes as follows:
I run some setup program, then happens nothing and
I can see NTVDM in the list of processes taking all the processor time
and does nothing... :(((

Maybe someone already met this problem? Please help!! This happens rather
often and I don't like reinstall NT each time.

Thanks in advance.

One thing you can try is to delete all the temporary files on the drive, Install shield uses many temp file that may not be cleaned up after failure,
click on start and then find and click on files and then dialog box type *.tmp and then hit enter and let it search the drive when it is done and finds temp files hit ctrl+A and then hit delete and get rid of all the temp files.

Make sure you have enough temporary space.  Check the value of the environment variables TMP (on my systems TEMP does not affect this) and make sure there is plenty of disk space. From a DOS prompt enter:
echo %TMP%
to show the value of TMP. If TMP is C:\TEMP then make sure that C: has plenty of room.  If you have lots of disk space on D: then mkdir D:\TEMP and then set TMP to D:\TEMP using Control Panel.System.Environment.

I found a fix for this that does not require a reload of NT.
rename the following files in \winnt\systeme32\ to.old then from the NT4.0 install cd expand the original files, and then reapply the lates service pack.

I did this today to my system now the install.exe for my programs work
