Which Delphi5 version to buy

I wantto have Delphi5, as you know there are 3 pacakges for
Delphi(standard, Prof, C/S), I am using D3 Prof. now, I am not writing DataBase App., but I am using wizard that Delphi provides.

I looked at the prices Standars is ~100$, Prof. is ~800$
So anyone could explain the differences between versions.

Thanx

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

first you get much more component with D5 pro specially internet components, some database components etc ...

but to be frank you can find replacements or even the same for free as long as you do not want the source code

but there are dome unique features of delphi that you will not find in delphi standard like :

project inspector, frames (very interesting feature) , and much better debugging facilities. and of course more components.

For my point of view, I did not want to aford the CS edition though I am using databases, but I think that the Professional edition is the minimum, if it is not just to play.

You will find all comparisons on the Borland Site

regards, Marc

The main reason for the professional version have always been the VCL source codes. In D5, the standard edition is even cut shorter, so I agree with Marc, for serious development you need the professional version...

I think, having VCL source code is vital, so I will choose Prof.
Thanx you both.
