creating my own screensaver

I want to create a screensaver myself.
There are programs that help make one...but I want to do it myself...the problem is I don't know where files go and what gets affected....
Anyone?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If you are not using MFC, there are links in the article that direct you to non-MFC code samples.

First of all I do not know how to program in Visual C++.
Second I do not know what MFC is.

The whole point of me posting this question was to me to create a screensaver myself...not use a "Program" to help me make one.
Please explain.
