'Click' sound when using mouse...

How do I remove/mute the 'click' heard over the speakers/headphones when a mouse button is pressed?

It's becoming quite anoying!!!!

go to the Control Panel, double click on the Sounds icon, scroll down the list and test each sound until you find the one you don't want and deselect it or change it to something less annoying. In mine there isn't one to select for the mouse button so it may be listed under something else, so just highlight each and hit the preview button

Tried renaming 'Start.wav'; seems to be working...

However, I still don't know the ramifications of the above. I hope that some else is not affected adversely.
