Sure don't think so, otherwise phone companies and long distance carriers would be hurting from a profitabiity standpoint, no?  I suspect we're not talking about all the same things.

Just tuning in to hear further, with DSL/ASDL/ISDN/CABLE options, etc... who knows what will be.

I'm still waiting fon any BENEFICIAL answer. Dialpad.com is very nice & useful site. But unfortunately it's covering U.S.A. only. I need to call any regular telephone over any site in the world.

Firas_s, if that's the case, and you don't feel the PENDING answer is what you want (based on your response you're still waiting for a beneficial answer), then you'll need to REJECT THE ANSWER.

If you don't, your question will remain LOCKED so few others will participate.  As a rule, if I have a questions, someone posts an answer that isn't what I want, I reject it and include a COMMENT as to why it didn't help.

Hope this helps you decide on your next step.  Locked questions are rarely visited.

Firas,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the legal answer is "no".  To call ANY phone from your computer is possible, but 99.9% of these phones are obviously still on carrier networks (PSTNs) and that means a fee.

I am a VoIP specialist and it is increasing common to see systems where an IP carrier will take your voice from your computer (or local phone or whatever) and deliver it locally to the recipients PSTN, thus you only pay a local charge..... but someone's got to pay that.

The only illegal way around it is to find somewhere who have got an IP to analogue converter and break out there, but that gateway will be billed for everyone of your calls.

Net2Phone is a pure IP link to one company and what little IP carrier fees, that company pays.  However, I can guarantee that even if you were able to get the bandwidth to hold a conversation, it will only be other IP devices you will be able to call.

Sorry it's not better news. If I can help you anymore, then let me know.

This question was awarded, but never cleared due to the JSP-500 errors of that time.  It was "stuck" against userID -1 versus the intended expert whom you awarded.  This corrects the problem and the expert will now receive these points; points verified.
