IE5 on Windows 98 platform

Over a period of weeks IE5 has slowed down enormously.  Now links are not working.  When I go into Netscape the links work.  Have noticed at work a similar thing is happening.  Would appreciate assistance please.

With thanks

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Your setting for the temporary internet files are probably the cause.  Tools->Internet Options and under the sub heading Temporary Internet Files click Delete Files.  Then click the Settings and under 'Check for newer versions of stored pages' select 'Every visit to the page'.  Hope this helps, good luck.

I'm not entirely sure of all of your details, but if your are running original Win 98 (not 98 SE), go to control panel/add-remove programs/Internet Explorer 5, when you attempt to uninstall it will give you the option to repair.  Also, if you are using the browser plug in from Norton Anti-Virus it really bogs things down, and some plug ins really choke IE5.  I would highly recomend not loading IE5 with too many plug ins.  Hope this helps.
