Outlook contacts usage in Word mail merge

I recently installed Exchange 5.5 on my server and migrated my clients from version 5.0.  My clients use Outlook 97.  After this migration, my clients can no longer access the Outlook contacts when trying to perform mail merges with Word 97.  An error message stating the Address Book cannot be opened is generated everytime a contact list is given as the data document.  What is causing this problem?

Try removing & readding the Outlook Address Book service from the users' profiles (in the Control Panel's Mail applet). Once you've readded it have the user reflag their Contacts folder as an e-mail address book. Do that from here within Outlook: Right click on the Contacts folder, choose Properties, go to the Outlook Address Book tab and check the "Show this folder as an E-mail address book" box
