If you mess with Fdisk you will lose all data on your computer, before you do this make sure you save anything you want to keep
Where is it showing as 2GB?

Fdisk gives an "error reading fixed disk". when I boot with a floppy I can do a dir and it shows 2g, when I try to format it shows 2047.31m , formats 50% then tries to recover allocation unit starting at 32000. This is a 1083m seagate model st51080a.

then type fdisk: then press 'Y' after a few seconds where a message will appear and ask you something. first of all delete the primary dos partition. then create the primary dos partition. after that quit and restart your comp. if you want to make FAT 32 then put in boot-up disk windows 98 while if you want to make FAT 16 then put in boot-up disk windows 16. it is always better to use FAT 32 if your system is power enough...coz' it'll save up ur disk space.
good luck
