eliminating an icon from desktop and elsewhere.
I tried to download TUCOWS Intercent timer. It came to me in WinZip which is not installed on the new computer. The icon is on my "C" drive and in the programs and on the desltop using the title ic99_320. As it stands now, I cannot access it uninstall it, use or get rid of it. A little later, I installed TOL as a timer which is working just fine. The new computer came with Win98, however the old one runs Win 95 and I"ve had no trouble either installing or using Intercent. The old computer does have WinZip.
Question: On the new computer with Win98, how do I get rid of all traces of Intercent, ic99_320 which I neither want or need.?

Right now am running two computers, one with Win 95 and Netscape the other with Win 98 and Explorer, two different ISPs and several e-Mail addresses. It does give one flexibility as long as one keeps things orderly.

bobkennedy, Does this program "Intercent" in the Add/Remove program list? Are you sure you have removed all the files related to Intercent? If that is so, for the icons left on the C,program, desktop, how they look like? please elaborate.
Bob, open windows explorer and go to C:\Windows\Desktop and delete the icon and reboot. If it comes back, then you will need to make some registry changes to remove it completely.

Beautiful! Perfect! Worked the first time and has not come back so far. Cannot find any traces of it elsewhere on the disk either, except in the trash can which I've Just dumped. Two odd things though: (1) Tried this before asking the question with absolutely no results. (2) In the trash /recycle can there must have been at leats half a dozen of the icons plus an equal number of shortcuts. All gone now. Your advice is one of the accepted procedures for deletion, but I still can't understand why it didn't work the first few times. Can Windows be cranky or recalcitrant at times for no readily apparent reason? Anyway, muchas gracias again.
you are welcome
