Importing Global Address List

How can I copy all of my "Contacts" in Outlook97 to Exchange Server's Global Address List so that my list becomes the default for company use?  I've tried exporting it to a CSV file and importing it on Exchange Server but it complains that it is the wrong format.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You may create a contact folder in Exchange Public Folders copy all yuor contacts there and then each user can set this folder in his(her)address book as default.
If he doesn't see this folder in address book may be he has no right to view items in this public folder or may be he should go to this folder open it's properties and set Show this folder in my adress book option.

Bodya, I tried that before I posted the question here. Once I've copied the Contacts folder to the Public folders I am unable to set it as my Address book.  When I go to its properties, the "Show this folder as an e-mail address book" is ghosted out even though I am set as the Owner of this folder with full permissions.

Bodya, Sorry - just realised that I didn't have the Outlook Address Book service installed.  Add a comment/answer and I'll grade it.

Thanks.

Dave,

The "wrong format" error could be solved by the following utility. This tool allowed me to import a contact list into the GAL via a CSV file.

Make .CSV Tool
The Make .CSV tool creates sequential user .csv files for the Microsoft Exchange Server import feature. It can be used by Microsoft Exchange Server administrators for planning, designing, and testing Microsoft Exchange Server configurations. This tool makes it possible to create hundreds or thousands of mailboxes or Microsoft Windows NT accounts easily on Microsoft Exchange Server. The tool works only with Microsoft Exchange Server.
