Is font smoothing what you mean (it's been around since Windows 3.1)?
Windows 98 - To disable the font smoothing feature in your Windows 98-based computer:
Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Display.
Click the Effects tab, click to clear the Smooth edges of screen fonts check box, and then click OK.

I don't know. its the question of a game where u can win webspace ;-) I don't know exactly what they mean. perhaps css ?

hmm, on windows 95 I can't find the smooth option but I guess it is possible that they mean this feature.
i'm thinking to complicated (in the css style sheets direction, but if I imagine right they were developed by netscape). I'll try my luck with font smoothing.
