I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Is font smoothing what you mean (it's been around since Windows 3.1)?

Windows 98 - To disable the font smoothing feature in your Windows 98-based computer:
Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Display.

Click the Effects tab, click to clear the Smooth edges of screen fonts check box, and then click OK.

hmm, on windows 95 I can't find the smooth option but I guess it is possible that they mean this feature.
i'm thinking to complicated (in the css style sheets direction, but if I imagine right they were developed by netscape). I'll try my luck with font smoothing.

You had posted this in the Windows 98 area, and that's the information I provided.  Here are some additional things you might look at if it's web-related and you're thinking of style sheets.  Since you were going to go with my FONT SMOOTHING thought, I'll add these links for further help, and post all as the answer.  If this is not the answer you wished for, please reject it.  Once you connect to the individual links, you'll find additional hyperlinks within that may expound further.
