sendmail messages

how can i disable the messages "Warning cannot send message for 4 hours, will try to resend ..." etc
from redhat Linux sendmail

1 Solution
Comment out these 2 lines (adding a '#' in front)

O Timeout.queuereturn=5d
O Timeout.queuewarn=4h

in your sendmail.cf file, usu. residing in /etc/sendmail.cf or /etc/mail/sendmail.cf
The comment is almost right, but sendmail will, if it does not find this values use default values (at 4 hours and 5 days) so you won't get anywhere. What you have to do is change the 4h to e.g. 24h. That way you have much more time before sendmail sends you a warning.
