Open a URL in Lotus Notes.

How can I put a URL in a message to send to someone so that when they click it it opens the web browser within Lotus Notes, not the default windows web browser?

Ta, John.

COOL !

You cant do anything on that.

You can ask a person with a designer license to do this for U.

There is no otherway.

Hi jaymol !

Change the location document content to have the default web browser to have only Notes and not with IE.

Good Luck !

Arun : Could you give an example of this please?  I'm not too sure what you mean.  Thanks, John.

Hi jaymol !

In your workspace towards the right bottom corner you can find "Office".

click on that and say edit current.

In that document you can find the entry what I mentioned earlier.

Change that to have only notes.

Good Luck !

-Arun

PS:  You may find something else instead of office also.

But how can I create a Hyperlink that does that automatically?  (I don't want to ask the user to do anything at all!)

HOPE YOU WILL DO THAT !

:-)

Compose a memo.

Create a hotspot button in the body field.

Go to the scripting options of the button.  Select the click event.

Paste the following script.

Send it to persons whose location document have to be modified.

You can also do it with an Action Hotspot (create a text with a green color and underline)
that looks like an URL !

Good luck !

Sorry, but I haven't got scripting capabilities on my Notes.

That is not an answer as to how to do it, is it?  Stop giving incorrect answers.

Jaymol,
I think Arun was more than generous to offer u a script that will do that.  Location docs are something that are stored locally on the user's machine, u cant manipulate them from a server.
I dont understand how u dont have scripting tools and u have the authority to change user's settings!

What are you on about?  I never said I could.

ghassan99Commented:
u r asking to change the users setting, by making them use the Notes browser

JaymolAuthor Commented:
Look.  All I wanted was for notes to open a url contained within an email received by notes to open the url in the notes browser.  Now stop getting childish cos no-one knows how to do it on MY system.

ghassan99Commented:
ur right, if I continue to argue with u, I will be childish!
good luck!

Hi Jaymol,

The code includes the last line that will open the URL in the notesbrowser.
You have to change the code to have your URL. Right now it is http://www.lotus.com

===================================
Dim ws As New NotesUIWorkspace
     Dim ss As New notessession
     Dim db As notesdatabase
     Dim view As notesview
     Dim doc As notesdocument

     Dim var1 As String
     Dim var2 As String
     Dim var3 As String

     var1 = ss.GetEnvironmentString("Location",True )
     Print var1

     var2 = ss.GetEnvironmentString("NAMES",True )
     Print var2

     var3 = Left( var1, Instr(1,var1,",") -1 )

     Print var3

     Set db = New notesdatabase("", var2)
     Print db.FileName
     Set view = db.GetView("Locations")
     Set doc = view.GetDocumentByKey(var3)
     doc.WebRetriever = "0"
     Call doc.save (True , False)

     Call ws.URLOpen( "http://www.Lotus.com" )
