Drop Down connect to hyperlink

I have a web page that I want to put a drop down on.  The drop down will be a list of items that when selected would go to a hyperlink (Different for each entry in the list).  When I did this and click on one of the drop downs it does nothing?

Is there a trick I am missing, I thought it was automagic.

Thanks a bunch!

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You'll need to use the javascript onchange eventhandler....

it would look something like this:
-----

<script language="javascript">
function ChangeMyLoc(NewLocation)
{
 window.location.href = NewLocation;
}
</script>

......

<body>

<form>
<select onchange="ChangeMyLoc(this.options[this.selectedIndex].value)">
<option selected>kiezuh!!
<option value="test1.html">testuh!!
</select>
</form>
</body>
....

------

If you put the url's which need to be loaded in the value part of each option, the page will automatically be loaded when the user has made his/her choice...
If there's anything unclear or you need to have this work in a frameset let me know and i'll fix it...

make sure the url in the option value is correct... in the code above it's set to http://test1
make sure this is the url which needs to be loaded when that particular item is selected.... In your case it would be the url which contains the information for the Western Region...
In my testcase, i used a page called test1.html...

The script part you posted looks as follows:

function ChangeMyLoc(NewLocation)
{
 window.location.href - NewLocation;
}
</script>

Change the - sign to =
Place the script part between <head> and </head>....
This would make it look like:
<head>
<script.... >
....
</script>
</head>

Hope to have solved your problems this time.... If not, I guess I have to keep trying, won't I... :)

This question was awarded, but never cleared due to the JSP-500 errors of that time.  It was "stuck" against userID -1 versus the intended expert whom you awarded.  This corrects the problem and the expert will now receive these points; points verified.
