3D Card

I am looking for a video card that will handle today's games and won't be obsolete anytime soon. The type of games I play are 1st person shooters(half-life, Quake3, etc.), and sports games. I want a 3d/2d card and don't really need tv-out. I hope to spend less than $350 Canadian ($250 U.S.)

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I recommend the RIVA TNT 2 ULTRA chipset, which I have too. An other solution is the new chipset you find on the Creative Labs GeForce 256 Annihilator... But still very expensive...

If I were you I surely wouldn't by a 3D/fx chipset. They were excellent chipsets, but nVidia finally won the war. And their cards are still build for PCI, which makes the AGP version too slow for what AGP can handle. Another negative side is that they only have 16 MB onboard. The new nVidia chipsets can also handle AGP 4X... If you motherboard can too...
