Knowing when a change of record occurs in a TTable

Hi

I have derived a component from TTable, and I need to know when the user moves to another record so I can trigger some code.

I have looked at CursorPosChanged and ActiveRecord, but I cannot make them do what I want.

Can someone provide a code snippet which will let me know when the user moves through the records in the Table.

Thanks in advance

The AfterScroll event is the one that is triggered when a user has moved from one record to another.

DoAfterScroll is defined in TDataSet:

protected
    procedure DoAfterScroll; virtual;

In order to have that same feature in your TTable-descendant, simply override the DoAfterScroll as you would override any other handler.

type TMyTable = class(TTable);
  (...)
  protected
    procedure DoAfterScroll; override;
  (...)
end;

implementation:

procedure TMyTable.DoAfterScroll;
begin
  inherited;
  { your customized code goes here }
end;

note: This is all defined in DBTables.pas and DB.PAS. If you have the sources, take a look at those units.
