Recommendation - PCI Graphics Card for Games

The latest and the greatest cards are all AGP.  I dont have a AGP slot only PCI.  I need a recommendation as to what and why.  I realize that it is your opinion thus the second piece "Why?".  I play a wide variety of games; Age of Empires, Diablo, Quake-type.

I agree with Iwhite...but here's the "why" part.  The Voodoo3 2000 is offered in PCI.  The graphics chip used is the same as the one in the AGP version.  The AGP version doesn't do anything more than the PCI version in this case, except ride a faster bus.  The Voodoo3 graphics chip, in all variants, cannot process large textures, meaning it doesn't effectively use the AGP bus...so in other words, you're getting AGP performance in a PCI card, due to the Voodoo3 having excellent fill rates and other features.
As for upgrading...best bet is to save your money towards an AGP mobo setup, since the selection of PCI cards is dwindling fast.  i.e. nVidia Riva TNT and higher products aren't even made in PCI format because they require the extra benefits of the AGP bus

Look at something similar to a Voodoo 3000, of which they do a PCI version, it offers good graphic resolution in Windows, whilst in game play it benefits from the 3D chip on board.  I have found these boards to be stron all round boards
