windows lock up

hello, i have a amdk6 with a i have to hard drives a ibm series and a quantum.  i have had this same computer for over 6 months now with absolutely no problems. i installed mcafees nuts and bolts and started to get the famous blue screen and system has performed a illegal operation. i uninstalled the program using its uninstall wizard then went behind it and used uninstaller.  the system does not give me the crashes any more but it is slowly getting harder harder to boot and to keep running. now it freezes all the time it has taken about ten tries to get this here. i have a system log that includes the last crash and i have a copy of the bootlog.txt there a couple of failed startups in it. there is also one for the mouse that i have no clue on it looks like the work f**k literally i am willing to work with the points and i can give you anything in the ways of info.  just ask i can get it i am sure i am good at where everything is just not perfect on knowing what it is all about.  have done scandisk in dos and in windows and done a defrag in windows. all three drives.  have played with the power management with no better luck.  do not want to jump to saying that mcafee was the problem just it was not like this till i installed it.  if there is any clarification that i can give i will please help.  points are adjustable if we can fix it. i am sure that we can i just need the expertise and guidance.

Edited text of question.
Have you run SFC?? If not go to Start -> Run and put sfc.exe in there.
This will replace any bad system files you have, but I have had problems where this did not do anything to fix it.
In these situations, in light of what you have said you have done would you be happy to reinstall windows? That'd be what I would do.
mindbender i will give sfc a try and get back with you.   tell you if it works.  thanks

these are the files that it says that i am missing or have altered.
coolsv32.exe
ddfxcom.dll
ddfxcro.dll
ddfxdll.dll
ddfxdw.dll

i have found these files though i can not get them back to the system.

i located them in c:\windows\default
next to the file coolsv32.exe there is teh word ignored and that is why i am sure it does not see it.  but how do i fix this problem so it does? or how do i reinstall windows without losing everything?  i have a few more point and can adjust.  thanks for letting me know about sfc i forgot it was there.

OK...get your install disk and use SFC.EXE to replace those files...there is an option to do so at the start. Otherwise you could just copy them over the old files. Try that, I don't think you have from what you said.
no i have not tried that all right i will give it a shot thanks and i will get right back with you as soon as i can with the results.
