Important nsf files

What are the most important databases (.nsf) in Lotus Notes? What are their Description?
1 Solution
The most important is:
1)a) names.nsf - resides on the server called "The Names and address book", called the "domino directory" in R5. It stores all information about the current configuration in the system and the users and the domain and connections. It servers as a central admin base.

1)b) names.nsf - resides on the client called "Personal address book" its similar to the upper but on a smaller state, it keeps track of all the client configuration and the connection to the server and as the name suggests, an address book.

2) log.nsf - keeps track of all activities on the server, mail routing events, replication tasks running and so on.

3) mail.box - it receives all the email, and the router task scans it to handle the deleivery of the mail.

4) smtpibwq.nsf & smtpobwq.nsf & smtp.box - handle internet mail delivery and transfer, but they ceased to exist in R5 as eveything is handled in mail.box, and the SMTP task is native in R5.

5) admin4.nsf - If u enable the admin process it will use this database to accomplish all kind of tasks that can be handled for the user, such as user deletions and removes all user entries everywhere (even in author/reader fields) which can be a hard task.

6) statrep.nsf & events4.nsf - databases that are used for monitoring server performance and u can alert the admin of any potential problem/event on the server, a replication failure, an ACL change. Have new features in R5
