BDE installation without a certified package

I have a program that uses the BDE, but I don't want to create an installation program using install shield or any certified program. Is there any way to copy the files to the needed directories, and what are the needed files/directories any way?
By the way, my program does not need any alias definitions.

Sure. Here's how to do it:

Besides that, if your application uses any ActiveX control, you'll have to deploy the OCX files along with their required libraries.

Remember that OCX files (and some DLLs) need to be registered before they can be used. In order to register a DLL/OCX you must issue the following command:

REGSVR32.EXE /I MyAtivex.OCX

You must also deploy REGSVR32.EXE, which can be found under \Windows\System

Hi,Alex
Your answer is quite satisfactorily, but two points must be pointed out:
- The use of BDEINST.CAB restricts you to the usage of Paradox, dBase, MS Access and FoxPro, so if you want to use any other database it won't work.
- The use of the CAB file stops you from updating the drivers you need, for example the Access driver of DBE 5.10 is dated at June 99, yuou can't use this.

If a better answer for these points is possible,I will increase the points to 50. Otherwise you get the points.

By the way you are going very well Alex, both in your points and in Athena's place.May Apollo looks over you!
