"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Pre-compiled headers are a tool to help the compiler build your application easily.

If you have several source files, and these all use a common base of headers, then pch could be useful to you.

If you only have one source file, or your source files use different headers (gui in some, networking in another, database in another, etc) then there will be little benefit in using pch.

If your build doesn't take long, then there is little point in configuring pch.  If you get it for free, as part of an application wizard for example, then you might as well take advantage of them.
