ActiveX control with Database

Hi,

I want to develop a activex control for my webpage, which accepts user name & password from the client & authenticates him in the back end against the database. Can anyone help me? i have little bit knowledge in COM.
Is it possible to communicate with the database from the ActiveX control? if possible how? How to create dialog based ActiveX control to get user name & password?.
Expecting your early reply

Yes its very much possible to communicate with the database from the ActiveX control.

Insert you ActiveX control in the HTML page (using the OBJID tag) and call its methods from a VBScript or JavaScript.

These methods can invoke your dialog which you should have provided in your project and built using Visual Studio.

For eg. the methods you might want to expose from your ActiveX control might be :

InvokeAuthDlg

This dialog might contain a few fields to enter the user name and password, after which the actual calls using the MFC ODBC classes (CDatabase etc.) are used to authenticate the user against the database.

Return a BOOL value from this method to indicate failure or success.
