Local variables

Is there any way to protect the value asigned to a local variable, so that when the procedure starts again it already contains the last value asigned to it?

It´sjust to know, but I wouldn´t like to use global variables.

Thanks.

I dont think there is a concept of a persistent local variable.
Do you know about properties?  Properties allow you to create write read and write methods.  You can protect these variables from outside interference beyond your class if thats a worry.

You do it like this:

procedure Fred;

const
  AValue : Integer = 0; // Initialised only once - be careful!

begin
  AValue := SomeOtherValue
end;

When you enter Fred a second time, AValue will have remebered the value assigned to it.

Cheers,

Raymond.
