About proxy servers

Why does our corporate proxy server sometimes block web sites and at other times we are able to view all the content?
Who is Participating?
I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Which web sites u enter??? Pls contact ur network administrator.
It is entirely upto your systems administrator/s as to which sites are blocked and which are not and this can be based on domain names or even IP addresses or ranges. You might find that various smutty type sites will be blocked eg: sites with the word sex in them or something to that effect. If you find that suddenly a previously blocked site is now available it might simply mean that your proxy server administrator is experimenting with various forms of filtering etc...

Hope this helps to clarify your situation.
