DNS problems?


I wonder why sometime when i using netscape browser,

i type in url http://www.mydomain.com     ,it change to http://mydomain.com automatically when start loading the pages, the 'www' disappear?

Is the DNS problems or?

It is not a DNS problem.  Sometimes DNS records will point a  WWW address to mydomain.com because that is the address where the server is located.  For example.  Try www.linuxtoday.com, the browser will automatically change it to linuxtoday.com.  They use that to minize the number of name records pointing to addresses.

to point mydomain.com to takes a name record
to point www.mydomain.com to also takes a name record

eliminate the reference to www, and just alias it to mydomain.com makes the database cleaner, thus taking up less memory.
