Sorry, whaty I meant was.
1. Assume that you have a client that comes in from the IP address 202.188.212.40
2. The host name for this address is "foo".
3. Your local domain is "bar.com"
Try adding the following entry to /etc/hosts.
202.188.212.40 foo foo.bar.com

the IP for the client is a dynamic IP,
because he login to net using the phoneline.

Is the dynamic ip offered by the Linux system, or a RAS somewhere. In bothe cases, there is normally only a limited range of addresses offered. Add a hosts entry for every possible address that it could have.

No no..
What i mean is my client login to the internet through his local ISP, so the IP will be different when he disconnect and login again..

In that case, you need to configure DNS so that your Linux box can resolve the IP address

could you give me a more clearer way to solve it, what should i change into DNS?
in your /etc/resolv.conf, you should add the line:
nameserver "your isp ns address"
nameserver "your isp ns address"
ASKER
i had added it already

I still not very sure, why i have to add the IP ppp ppp.domain.com ?
give me a hand
Thanx
