Filling a MSHFlexGrid

Currently, I'm filling the MSHflexgrid on a cell by cell loop.  The reason that I have not used the DataSource property is because I have had nothing but greif trying to use the Data Environment.  I would like an alternate method to fill my flex grid very quick, without using the DataEnvironment and Datasource property.  Any suggestions?

What is the reason for not using the DataEnvironment?  What kind of problems were you having?

What is the code you are using to fill the grid?

How many records does the grid need to handle?

TheLearnedOne, I wish I could tell you why my friend is having so much difficulty with the Data Environement, that he has completly abandoned the tool.  All I can tell you is that he has no faith in using it.  I suggested using the getstring methode of his ado recordset object to fill the flexgrid.  But it eludes me as how to perform this possible solution. By the way, his recordset count is about 1500 records.  Any ideas?

Is your friend using the TextMatrix property or the AddItem method?

The TextMatrix property is much more efficient then the AddItem.

I have abandoned all Micro$oft released grid controls for VideoSoft's vsFlexGrid.  VideoSoft is the company that created the MSFlexGrid and MSHFlexGrid.  vsFlexGrid is the definitive next step that is backwards compatible with the two Micro$oft controls.

Our company is now looking into the new version 7.0.  It is amazing what this control can do for you!

TheLearnedOne,  My friend is using the TextMatrix property.  I have used a demo version of the vsFlexGrid in the past and liked it very much, I think it was version 6.0. I also think this was the version that allowed you to use getstring to fill the grid, I'm not sure.  I would like to give you the 200 points if you would post any answer, just for the excellent lead on version 7.0.

Thank You.

You can do a GetString on an ADO recordset, but the MSHFlexGrid does not have an easy method to put the data in the grid.

VideoSoft's vsFlexGrid has a Clip property that lets you do this, so I don't know if you were getting the two controls mixed up.

TheLearnedOne, Thats it Thanks a million. Will the clip property work on the 7.0 version of the vsHFlexgrid?

Bob LearnedCommented:
Yes, they introduced it with 6.0, and it carries on to 7.0.
