Moving custom recipients

We are taking one of our Exchange Servers 5.5 offline, we need to move the custom recipients to another server in the same domain and in the same organization.  I was able to move the mailboxes with no problem, but not sure what to do with the custom recipients.  If you could help with this, it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Use Exchange Admin.'s Directory Import/Export tools. (Tools >> Directory Import or Export)

When exporting only select "Custom Recipient" under the "Export objects" option. Be sure to check "Include hidden objects" if you've hidden any of your custom recipients. I leave the default of CSV as the export file and ANSI as the char. set.

Importing is very straightforward, just change any options required.

NOTE: If in addition to the SMTP addresses the custom recipients also have any (for example X400) addresses those addresses would need to be modified if the Domain or Corporation names are different on the new server. If needed you can easily do a search and replace in Excel before importing.

Let me know if you need any more help.

Good luck,
Jhana
