reading macintosh text on my pc

I have downloaded some text from my macintosh onto a floppy and tried to bring it up on my pc which has windows 98 the text came out garbled. All I want to do is print this text, how do I do that?

OK, a couple of things. First, make sure your disk is a PC formatted disk. Secondly, save it on the Mac with SimpleText, not any other program or you'll get a bunch of wierd formatting characters in it. Granted, other programs do have a "save as text" option, but you're best off using SimpleText.

The text is system read me files so I can't change it to simple text if it isn't can I?

OK, those readme files that look like a little newspape are already SimpleText files. When you double-click on them on the Mac, they should open with SimpleText. If they don't, copy and paste the contents into a SimpleText document. But, I'd be surprised if a readme was not in SimpleText format, unless it is a PDF file which would open with Adobe Acrobat Reader. If that's the case, they should open on the PC anyway. To open text files on Win95/98, you can use any word-processing program, even something like Notepad.

Okay, the original file is in Simple Text read only, that is coming up garbled. What do I do?
