RH 6.1 & X Configuration

I downloaded and managed to install Redhat 6.1 on two computers. The only problem is that I was not able to set the display resolution higher than 640X480 on either of the computers regardless of the color depth.

The xconfigurator was able to detect the display adapters on both of the computers correctly, but the monitors posed a problem for it. My own computer sports a Matrox Millenium (4MB PCI) + Nokia Multigraph 447X and my friends computer a Voodoo 3 (AGP 16MB) + Sony CPD 200SX.

Does this mean that I will have to set the monitor refresh rates etc. manually? (I tried to do this with xfconfig86 but to no avail.) Unfortunately I have lost the manual for the Nokia display, whereas the Sony manual should be "out there".

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
