Capturing IP address and time

How do I type in my html so that the client's IP address and time gets captured in a variable ?

In Perl the client's IP is contained in

$ENV{REMOTE_ADDR}

Sorry, no idea how to capture the client's time though.

#this should also be the client's time
#to get the client's timezone, you'd have to ask the client,
#or run a program (javascript, perhaps) on the clients computer
