CD Burners, All the Jargin?

Hello, if I'm out shopping for a burner, I'm not sure what all that stuff means.  Example, "6X write, 4X rewrite, 16X read CD-Rewritable CD-mastering drive. Features a 2MB cache buffer, 160ms access time, transfer rates up to 2400KB/second"  I don't know what to look for because I don't know what all that stuff means.  If someone could help me out, that would be great.  Thanks

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
