In Lotus Notes 4.6.2 we have three licenses.
1.Lotus Notes Desktop
2. Lotus Notes Mail
3. Lotus Notes

Can anyone explain  the difference betn these.

Secondly when I issue a" Lotus Notes"  License to any User. That user gets Server Administration icon in File ---  tools ----  Server Administration which is not available if "Lotus Notes Desktop" License is issued to any user.

Can I block the Appearance of Server Adminsitration if I give "Lotus Notes" License to any users

Please help

Notes 4.x has 3 licence types.

Lotus Notes - full rights including design functions.
Lotus Notes Desktop - full usage rights but no access to design.
Lotus Notes Mail - only access to mail functions and specified databases.

Most users in an organisation using Notes would typically be Lotus Notes Desktop.  Only administrators/designers and people who specifically need access to design functions should be assigned Lotus Notes licences.

The "Lotus Notes Desktop" licence costs approximately US$75 to purchase, with an annual maintenance renewal of US$16 per copy.

The "Lotus Notes" designer client costs about US$475 each, with annual maintenance charge of US$88 for each license deployed in the Notes Address Book.

Obviously therefore you don't want to give anybody the full "Lotus Notes" licence unless they really need it!

In Notes 4.x I don't believe there's a way to stop users with the full licence from seeing the Server Administration option in the menu, but Notes R5 has separated entirely the Administration and Design features of the client so it should be possible with R5.

Thanks for your comment but I need the solution of any how disabling the appearance of Server Admin  tool on the users given Lotus Notes Lisence.

Hmm, better late than never... in the public address book, under "SERVER\Servers" view, open the document for the server the users use.  In the first section there's a field listing Administrators.  Only your Admin group should be in this.  People who aren't in a group listed here shouldn't see the Server Administration option.  I think.  Give it a try if it's still a problem.
