sendmail

I have a FreeBSD 3.3 box hostnamed "svr1.mydomain.com", but, I find that I can send email to "andrewyu@svr1.mydomain.com" and cannot sent to "andrewyu@mydomain.com" ? Why ?

How can I force this sendmail to receive email address for multiple domain ?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

sounds that you have set in sendmail.cf:

Djsvr1.mydomain.com

which should not be set, or

Djmydomain.com

Do you mean that I should un-remark #Dj$w.Foo.COM under "# my official domain name # ... define this only if sendmail cannot automatically determine your domain" and modify it ? Anyway, Djmydomain.com or Dj$wmydomain.com ?

comment out Dj
as the note in sendmail.cf said, only use it when your system cannot detect it as needed

Anyway, place "Dj$m" now and it can also work properly !

By the way, can I put "Djmydomain1.com" and "Djmydomain2.com" there in order to receive mail for more than one domain ?

ahoffmannCommented:
NO, therfore you need virtual domains and appropriate MX records in DNS.
Dj is vor sending only.
