speed up internet connection

What are some strings that i can put on my modem to speed up the dialing process and connection?

There's nothing you can really do about the dialing process but you can speed up the connection speed. Try a program like EasyMTU.

BTW, you mention "some strings". If it were that simple, I would imagine your modem maker would have already put the strings with the best performance in the drivers. What EasyMTU does, in general, is to modify some settings for your Internet connection such as packet size that are more optimal than Windows default. Of course I guess I did assume Windows here, which you didn't mention.
