Battery recognition in a IBM Thinkpad 560E

My Thinkpad 560E no longer recognizes that I have a battery installed. I just purchased a new battery so I know it is not the battery. It did hold a charge for a while and would boot on battery power. However, the battery meter would not recognize that the battery was installed. Now it seems I've drained all of the power from the battery because it only boots under AC power. HELP ???

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It's possible that that the "DC Controller" in the Thinkpad has gone bad. You'll want an Authorized IBM repair center to replace this part. I work in one, and disassembling a Thinkpad to replace this part is NOT for the timid. --dp
