I try to download from the internet gnu's libstdc++.
I run ./configure and it fails for not finding libstdc++.
does that make sence? what to do?

You need to compile gcc to look at where libstdc++ is installed or set LD_LIBRARY_PATH if your running gcc 2.8 or earlier.

Easier still is to download gcc 2.95 or higher which includes C++ (and libraries) and other languages by default.

You might want to talk to your vendor about that.  Sun *should* be providing its own libstdc++ library that you could use to compile the GNU version.
