EditMask in DBEdit

When you add all fields in a table into a unit you have certains facilities like EditMask but you lose  compatibility because Delphi imports a lot of info from Database into your unit. So in some cases we prefer not to add fields into our unit but i still would like to have at least the facilities of a property like EditMask. How could we find a way around this?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

hi rarigo,

what about

table1.FieldByName('AFieldName').EditMask := WhatEverMask;

somewhere in your code (by the formcreate-event for example)
