Accessing the keyboard port

Can we issue _inb's or _outb's for the keyboard port, under Windows NT (MSVC++5.00). I'm trying to manage a peripheral that is connected in the keyboard port. I've managed to make it work under linux (outb'ing to port 0x60 and inb'ing from port 0x64), but not under WinNT.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You cannot access I/O ports directly under NT, usually a driver is needed for this task but there's an alternative: See the 'Sybera Hardware Access' Kit at http://www.sybera.de/home.htm which allows direct hardware access under NT without developing your own driver. Can be downloaded for free at http://www.sybera.de/download/sha.exe
