Blue line

I have a HP ScanJet 3300C.  When a picture is scanned in, a blue line appears horizontally 3/4 the way down the picture.  How do I fix it, or is the scanner bad and I need to exchange it?

ISSUE: When previewing an image, the scanned result has strips through it. The scanner does not do a warm-up, and it calibrates if the lamp goes off while HP PrecisionScan LT is open.

workaround: Close HP PrecisionScan LT and re-open it. This will reinitialize the scanner.

cause: The lamp will go off 13 minutes after the last scan. If you do not preview before this, it results in colored strips on your preview scans.

You could also try recalibrating the scanner there should be an option somewhere in your scanner application.
