How do I create a shell archive on
UNIX? Bassically I want to write a
small shell archive, that will
extract a library from itself.
Please give me an example.

shar  filenames > archivename

You can then vi the archiveto add comments on how to use the archive, eg

#To unpack, sh archivename

man shar for more info
